It’s great news that one of our partner projects has been funded by Regional Arts Australia. This is the Alice Springs Pop-up Language School, through Watch this Space gallery. Artist and language advocate Beth Sometimes did the hard work on submitting for these funds and she will work with a group of artists and language custodians in putting the pop-up school together. It promises to be exciting and innovative way of supporting language exchange in Alice Springs.
CALL are participating in the project, offering in-kind support and collaborating on resource development and support for local participation.
The Pop-up school will link to the Arrpenhe-nthenhe Indigenous Language film program at the Something Somewhere Film Festival, and together these will provide a sustained space for public engagement with local languages in our town and region.
